Dr. Henry Correvon, horticulturist and botanist from Geneva, created the alpine garden in 1885.
Dr. H. Correvon aimed to establishing in the mountains, an alpine garden located at a rather high altitude. He wanted to introduce the brilliant flora of high mountains by keeping them in their natural habitat.
At this height, such garden found its natural place in the Val d’Anniviers, at the Weisshorn Hotel. But, difficult to access, the garden could not be monitored as it should have been.
Today, 130 years later, the alpine garden was restored.
